Cancel Debt, Choose Hope

Call on public, private and multilateral leaders to:

1. Stop the debt crisis now by cancelling unjust debt.
2. Support a Debt Justice Law to make private lenders take part in debt relief.
3. Prevent future debt crises through a new debt framework within the United Nations.

In the places SCIAF works, millions of people do not have enough food, water or adequate shelter to live dignified lives. Schools do not have enough teachers; clinics do not have enough safe equipment. 

Debt is stealing lives, and robbing children of their futures.

The UK must finally address the global debt crisis. We have played a shameful role in exacerbating the debt burden and climate crisis through our current and historic emissions. We, and other rich countries, have a moral duty to act. 

We believe it's time the debt system is changed. It's time for debt justice.
