Car wash

Sensational students from John Paul Academy raised £373.45 to help people in need overseas on Saturday washing cars at the Immaculate Conception church in Maryhill, Glasgow.

Despite the rainy weather they did a tremendous job, cleaning dozens of cars.

Pupil, Mark Wilson, 16, said he was delighted to raise money for SCIAF’s life-changing work with people in some of the poorest countries in the world. "I think it’s really good to try and help other people," he said. "And my Auntie Beth had her funeral here so it’s very close to my heart.

Mrs McGinley, an RE teacher at the school said she’d asked the young people to come and do something for their community and parish.

"They’ve thought, yes why not, let’s give something back, but I think they’re having a good time doing it. SCIAF is a cause we support because it’s a Catholic charity and we’re a Catholic school but more than that they do fantastic work all over the world that really makes a difference."
