World Day of the Poor 2022
9 November 2022
Pope Francis has declared the 13th November as this year’s World Day of the Poor.
Pope Francis’ message draws from the words of St Paul from 2 Corinthians 8:9:
"For your sakes, Christ became poor."
Come together in true solidarity and take up the challenge to reflect and pray on the World Day of the Poor. Pope Francis asks us to pray for “the many forms of poverty all around us” and to take time to reflect on what we already do – and what we could do - to make sure we put the poorest first in our lives.
Let us look to Jesus, who did not enter this world to be served but to serve others - who emptied himself of all heavenly wealth and comfort, to become poor for us. He was never distracted from his mission and welcomed to him, all people.
