Fancy a walk to the Vatican?
20 February 2025

This Lent, SCIAF is asking school pupils across the country to become ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ and sign up for a virtual walking challenge – which will take them all the way from Scotland to Vatican City!
As part of our Big Lent Walk project, which is run jointly with CAFOD, we have created a virtual route to cover the 2,000 miles from Scotland to St Peter’s Square.
Schools can use the SCIAF's fundraising resources along the way, to learn about Saints and Blessed Servants of God, including St Thérèse of Lisieux and Blessed Carlo Acutis.
The resource provides information on these figures of the Church as well as prayer resources for schools to use throughout Lent as they raise funds for SCIAF. In this Holy Jubilee Year, SCIAF hopes to engage students across the country through this resource and virtual pilgrimage.
Lorraine Currie, SCIAF’s chief executive said:
“You can take part and split the 2,000 miles either as a class or school group walking each week over Lent. Once you sign up you will receive a welcome pack and the resource to go alongside your walking. Enjoy!"
Contact getinvovled@sciaf.org.uk for any further questions on the challenge or how you can be involved in the SCIAF Community.
