Molly gained so much from volunteering
5 June 2024
This week is Volunteers’ Week, a time to celebrate the amazing contribution made by so many people who give up their free time to help organisations like SCIAF.
And here at SCIAF we are so lucky to have volunteers, who enrich who we are in so many different ways.
Earlier this year Molly, who is 23 spent some months with us as part of her Masters’ programme at the University of Glasgow.
She said:
“I volunteered at SCIAF for four months, working as part of the Advocacy Team. I had the pleasure of discovering how the team works to deliver global justice.
“Everyone at SCIAF was very welcoming and I immediately felt right at home. I helped build advocacy strategies, took part in photoshoots, visited schools, and conducted research. I even organised my own documentary viewing as part of a Glasgow Festival.
“Volunteering for SCIAF was a formative experience that confirmed that I wish to work within the sector once I graduate. I was able to do my own work whilst also being sufficiently guided throughout – the balance was just right!
“I would strongly encourage anyone to volunteer for SCIAF. They have guided Scotland on its Climate Justice Initiatives and are paving the way towards various global justice goals including Food Justice.”
