Reflection by Rose Waswa, SCIAF partner and Project Co-ordinator of Caritas Kabwe
Our prayer, O Lord, is that people will see each other in the light of the Gospel. Help us as sisters and brothers to unite and to put others first.
We pray especially for the children who cannot eat. Satisfy their hunger and help us to share what we have. We lift up to you our young girls, being forced into marriage as a way for families to avoid hunger.
We pray for women who are oppressed and abused by their husbands. We pray for protection on these women and a change of heart for these men. May these oppressors turn from their violence and instead, seek forgiveness and peace.
We pray for countless families that have suffered the loss of loved ones due to COVID. We pray that your love, O God, will surround them as they adjust to this loss. Give them peace, give them hope for the future.
We pray these things in the name of Jesus.
Amen
In this Lenten season, let us...
Give thanks for project workers like Rose who are encouraging people every day to see their gifts and talents, and to use them to lift themselves out of poverty
Pray for parents who see their children go hungry, who feel that all hope is gone
Pray that the world takes climate justice seriously and that we see fewer families devastated by extreme weather.

There are many different ways of praying, all of which add to the rich and beautiful traditions of our faith.
This month, Fr Stewart asks us to pray for communities in South Kivu Province, DR Congo, where SGBV often tears lives apart.
