We stand in solidarity with the Rohingya people
28 September 2017
We stand in solidarity with the Rohingya people.
We are dismayed by the violence and destruction that has forced hundreds of thousands to flee to Bangladesh, and the resulting humanitarian crisis. The persecution of the Rohinga people is unacceptable and unjustifiable. Their human dignity and rights must be respected by all. The violence towards them and the destruction of the homes and villages must stop. The Rohingya must be cared for whilst displaced in Bangladesh, and we applaud the efforts of Caritas Bangladesh, the Government of Bangladesh and international organisations who are working to provide such assistance. Longer-term, a peaceful solution must be found that respects the rights of all. The Rohingya must also be given guaranteed safe passage back to their villages, helped by the government and others to rebuild their homes, and be allowed to live and work in peace in the months and years ahead.
Please pray for the Rohingya people
Lord, we pray that you grant the Rohingya people safe passage as they seek refuge in Bangladesh having fled their homes and villages. May you guide and sustain them as they search for food and shelter. We pray that much needed help will reach them and we offer you our prayers for their safety.
"Please pray for the dead, wounded and displaced Rohingya people of Myanmar. May our Loving God grant compassionate hearts in those with the power to help them."
