Nepal earthquake three years on
25 April 2018
When the 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit central Nepal on 25th April 2015, 9,000 people were killed, 230,000 were injured, and a million people were left in need of emergency aid. Thanks to you, we were able to respond.
SCIAF supporters gave over £659,000 to our emergency appeal which meant we were able, as part of the Caritas Internationalis family of Catholic international aid agencies, to help more than 50,000 families with food, temporary shelters and household items like blankets, buckets and soap.
Since then, we have also supported Caritas Nepal's work to rebuild homes, restore access to safe water and sanitation facilities, help people regain their livelihoods and be more resilient to future disasters.
Thank you for supporting our sisters and brothers in Nepal in their time of need. To continue supporting our work responding to emergencies you can donate to our emergency response fund.
