Please pray for all those hit by Indonesia's latest tsunami
23 December 2018
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have died or lost loved ones in the latest tsunami which has hit Indonesia.
At least 429 people are believed to have lost their lives after a tsunami hits the shores around Indonesia's Sunda Strait, and the death toll is expected to rise further. Around 150 people are still missing and at least 1,400 people have been injured with many homes destroyed.
Officials believe the tsunami was triggered by undersea landslides after the Anak Krakatau volcano erupted.
We are already working with Caritas Indonesia to help survivors of the devastating tsunami which hit Palu on Sulawesi island in September. We are monitoring the current situation and will be in contact with Caritas to establish what further emergency support we can provide to the people affected by this latest disaster.
